If anyone has wondered what’s behind the large-scale die-off in bee populations around the world… well the latest research from the US shows some startling findings:
http://www.treehugger.com/natural-sciences/scientists-discover-another-cause-bee-deaths-and-its-really-bad-news.html I suggest it’s worth reading.
And if you think it doesn’t matter and it’ll never happen here, then I suggest it’s time to get a bit more up to date and realise there are some serious problems with agricultural and horticultural poisons – Taranaki will be better off when they are no longer used.
Perhaps we can think about moving our region towards bio-grow and organic methods? There’s increasing demand for organic food as concern about chemicals grows, so we might just get a nice premium for cleaner and greener food products.
