There has been a good turnout to meetings run by Grey Power in Hawera, The Lions in Eltham and in Patea, and BPW in Hawera on Wednesday 25 Sept. Because I’m standing for STDC and TDHB there have been a few late nights. Thank you to those organisations for their interest and willingness to be part of the democratic process 🙂
It has been great to meet lots of familiar and new people – new to me, that is – and to hear their concerns and priorities. I look forward to bringing their ideas to Council.
I think most candidates have gained in confidence with each new opportunity to tell people their views and ideas… but I have to say there haven’t been many fresh ideas, especially from sitting members.
If we are to help the region grow then we have to develop a new vision and change direction. It’s that simple. So let’s set our sights higher than new toilets and some paint in High St. Those things are fine, but they won’t turn our population decline around.
